I caught a little video of the barn owl on tonight’s walk :) I’ve been seeing it for a while now as it’s taken to hanging out on the top of the compost toilet door. This is the perfect place from which to survey the field, which with its areas of long grass and forgotten kale plants provides the perfect hunting ground for an owl, as well as buzzards, red kites, kestrels and sparrow hawks. It’s takes a few seconds but then you can see it come into view above the trees :) Tell tales signs on the compost toilet steps! The owl pellets are made of undigested regurgitated feathers bones and other non edible stuff!

A sunny day in february, snow on the ground outside and a wind far too cold to make me want to venture out for any length of time..so the perfect day for website work :-) The van we live in on the campsite and call home year round runs on solar power, this is wonderful in the summer, so much available power you really don't know what to do with it... but in winter a completely different story. We often only have enough for lights and if its been dull for a really long time maybe not even that, so laptops and website updates are an impossible task...there just isn't the power... but today, on this beautiful sunny february day, the power is flowing. The batteries are fully charged and i am sitting here in the cozy warmth of the van typing a load of nonsense in the blog! :-) Time for a few pictures i think :-) first some from the first day of snow this winter, snow ball fights and a snowman after school before a desperate dash for the inside to warm our freezing fingers...we were unprepared with no gloves! :-) And on a little walk I took, two pictures of things that made me stop :) the snow on a hog weed skeleton and the light shining through the trees into a stand of young silver birch :) And then these :) yesterday I took a walk to see a Scott’s pine that sits on the top of the farm, on the south west edge of the bluebell wood. It’s a beautiful old tree, lost a few branches over its time and seen many things. The colour of its bark and it’s evergreen top catches your eye from across the field every time, it has a sense of magic about it :) I took some photos of it’s bark that I would like to show you :) Wishing you a beautiful day :)
Lee We've built an extra, and very special, shower for the campsite
It is an outdoor, open top shower set down a private path into the woodland. Water is provided via portable showers that can be filled up and taken to the new shower paradise! :-) I can promise you this is amazing :-) showering in the sunshine...or the rain as i did :-) photos from a pre dusk walk around the woodland. Wild cherry blossom, the sun through the trees of the young woodland, a view over the valley and self seeded cowslips
