The Planting Fruit Trees Dream continues...

Picture
It has always been a dream of mine to plant an orchard here at Farm on the Hill in Staffordshire.
There is something so special about fruit trees, perhaps it is the colours, or the smell of blossom,  or even the feeling of abundance when you see their heavily laden branches.
Some of my fondest childhood memories are of picking fruit in the orchard with my family and of climbing big old fruit trees (they seemed huge as a child!) and collecting baskets full of apples, pears and plums.

Last year (2013) we planted a total of 96 fruit trees on the farm and this year we would love to plant some more...

Plant Your Own Fruit Tree

Picture
Many people don't have the space needed to plant a fruit tree, especially when you consider needing at least two trees for succesful polination, or perhaps you move around alot and don't want to plant a tree in a garden you may leave behind.
We would love it if you would join us in this exciting new project by planting your own fruit tree here at the farm.

Buying your own tree:

Buying your own tree is easy, just visit  Walcot Organic Fruit Tree Nursey and choose from their huge selection of apples, cider apples, crab apples, pears, perry pears, plums, cherries, damsons and soft fruit.
You can either buy your own tree direct from them and then bring the tree to us for planting or contact us to add to our order.
We are ordering a selection of their soft fruit this year so joining in with our order will mean you don't have to pay delivery costs.

To order with us you must let us know before the end of February as that is when our final order will be placed.

What you will get:

For an annual rent of £10 we will maintain your tree and the ground around it to make sure it grows and fruits well.
You will then be able to harvest all the fruit your tree produces every year, as well as come up and visit your tree in the orchard any time you want! :-)
Contact us to plant a fruit tree, or even 2 or 3 ! :-)
Your tree will provide fruit for you and your family for years to come :-)

Walcot Organic Fruit Tree Nursery

Picture
Walcot Organic Fruit Nursery has a wonderful (and very large) selection of organic fruit trees. They have dessert apples, cooking apples, cider apples, pears, perry pears, plums, damsons, quinces, as well as soft fruit like raspberries and black currents. They are very helpful and knowledgeable and will happily advice you on tree varieties.
All the photos on this page are borrowed with kind permission from them! :-)
