Jennifer Blant - Artist
The artist, Jenny Blant, painting on Colonsay
For many years I was a teacher in Derbyshire and Staffordshire schools, before gaining my BA (Hons) in Fine Art at Derby University in 1998.
I have worked with children and adults with learning and psychiatric diffilculties, and on several major community art projects throughout the Midlands, the Hebrides and Orkney.
Glass was my chosen medium for several of these community projects - there are eight rather lovely glass panels hanging in the entrance foyer of Queens Hospital, Burton.
My studio space is based in a large shed in my rampant garden in the village of Wootton, Staffordshire, where i work mainly in paint but also in photography and glass.

Horizon 12 - Rain Approaching Oil on Canvas 2012 (120cm x 40cm) £600
Currently one of my visual concerns is to do with horizons, exploring the energy that is created by the dichotomy of two elements appearing to meet but never doing so, seen through the physical, emotional and spiritual.
My semi abstracted seascapes arose out of studies during a 6 month residency on the Isle of Colonsay.
My work is also simply to do with paint.
