another week on the farm has gone by and yet again so much seems to have happened... so much in fact that i am in danger of having completely forgotten it all!!!! Thank goodness for the photos :-)
The weather has been beautiful and so varied; sunshine, clouds, frosty mornings, snow, and all the time, so cold..
Spring can be seen and felt everywhere; buds are breaking, seedlings are growing, snow drops and crocuses are in flower, it's such a beautiful and exciting time of year.
With Spring comes spring cleaning ...and we now have a new potting shed and have begun repotting last seasons plants for the nursery/plant sales area, we have prepared the ground for the new greenhouse (kindly donated last year by a great couple through freecycle - thank you very much!! :-)) and mended all the sides, as well as cleaning out the museum shed; dusting down and rearranging our displays of old farming, gardening and household implements (new web page showing some of our more unusual artifacts coming soon..:-) )
A new bull has arrived on the farm; Gabriel a nine month old Hereford. He is a beautiful stocky little fellow and seems to have taken to the farm and my dad straight away. I was priveledged enough to watch the arrival and halter breaking of Gabriel. After only about 5 minutes and a few whispered words of love from my dad, Gabriel was standing calmly on a halter, and appeared completely at ease. He didn't mind margaret and myself standing close by and when i asked him if he would turn his head so i could get a better picture he did! :-) all this after never having being handled before ...pretty amazing! :-) The relationship my dad has with the cows really is very special, you'll often see him cuddling and kissing them, chatting away, he's a great cow man...
This week has also seen opportunuity for some fantastic frosty walks around the farm and the nearby lakes; i hope you like the photos... i know there is lots but it was so hard to choose which ones to show you, and so many i have left out! :-)
best wishes, i hope you all have a wonderful week,
